    En los últimos años, la lactancia materna está siendo objeto de un renovado interés debido a los múltiples beneficios que este tipo de alimentación proporciona a la madre y al hijo a corto y largo plazo. Desde el punto de vista médico las mastitis constituyen la principal causa de destete no deseado. Actualmente, la ausencia de un diagnóstico etiológico y de antibiogramas provoca que se prescriban tratamientos inadecuados.

    In recent years, breastfeeding has been the object of renewed interest due to the multiple benefits that this type of feeding provides to the mother and the child in the short and long term. From a medical point of view, mastitis is the main cause of unwanted weaning. Currently, the absence of an etiological diagnosis and antibiograms causes inappropriate treatments to be prescribed.
