El conflicto entre la mitra valenciana y el Estudi General surge por las desavenencias relacionadas con los libros prohibidos albergados en la biblioteca universitaria. Pero en el fondo, no se trataba sino de la puesta en escena de un nuevo conflicto entre ambos poderes por el control de la Universitat.
