    This article is part of the field of studies on the recent history of Rwanda and its political elites, and focuses on the participation of women in the chamber of deputies. Rwanda has gained international prominence due to the significant participation of women in parliament, in which 61.3% of the seats in the Chamber of Deputies are occupied by women, the highest rate in the world. In order to better understand this participation of women in the chamber of deputies, the concept of gender is essential to explain how some differences in social recognition between men and women are reflected in the political field. This occurs as gendered relationships are also historical constructions that are molded from different contexts, cultures and traditions. To deepen the debate, make a survey of data about Rwandan and Rwandan parliamentarians, in order to analyze generational and political cleavages in the relations against the gendered relations of society. Finally, the conservatism and authoritarianism of current Rwandan politics allows us to identify the limits to the inclusion of Rwandan women, in which violence and their submission in the private sphere seem to contrast with the quantitative advances in legislative seats.

    O presente artigo está inserido no campo de estudos sobre a história recente de Ruanda e as suas elites políticas, principalmente acerca da participação das mulheres na câmara dos deputados. Ruanda tem ganhado destaque internacional devido a expressiva participação de mulheres no parlamento, em que 61,3% das cadeiras da câmara dos deputados são ocupadas por mulheres, a maior taxa em todo o mundo. Com o intuito de entender melhor esta participação de mulheres na câmara dos deputados, o conceito de gênero é essencial para explicar como algumas diferenças de reconhecimento social entre homens e mulheres tem reflexo no campo político, na medida que as relações generificadas são também construções históricas que se moldam a partir de diferentes contextos, culturas e tradições. Para aprofundar o debate, fazemos um robusto levantamento de dados acerca dos parlamentares ruandeses e ruandesas, de modo a conseguir analisar clivagens regionais, geracionais e políticas frente às relações generificadas da sociedade. Por fim, o conservadorismo e autoritarismo da atual política ruandesa nos possibilita pensar os limites de tal inclusão da mulher ruandesa, em que a violência e a sua submissão no campo privado parecem contrastar com os avanços quantitativos de cadeiras do legislativo.
