    The multiplication of archaeological research on Althiburos has recently drawn attention of historians to this African site. On the basis of this recent work, I will attempt a synthesis on the urban development of this city, linking this development to its political and institutional history. I will also analyze the progressive extension of the urban area, the structuring of the peripheral neighborhoods as well as the shifting of the centers of interest of the populus
