The aim of this article is to analyse the artistic policies in regards to the relationships between Christians and Muslims in the Iberian Peninsula, focusing primarily on the fear of the Turkish enemy. To that end, this aspect in the Valencia area – which has its own particular characteristics since it is located on the coast and was home to a large Islamic population – will be studied in greater detail after a general background is given. Different proposals to analyse how art and architecture can be used as a resource for studying this issue in this historical period will also be discussed.
