Resumen de El "Ceruulus" de Paciano de Barcelona: estudio de un tratado desaparecido

En el presente trabajo estudiamos el desaparecido tratado Ceruulus del obispo Paciano de Barcelona, destinado a combatir las fiestas pa-ganas de Año Nuevo en las que la gente se dis-frazaba de animales. De este modo, dedicamos el primer apartado a analizar el debate historiográ-fico originado en torno al significado de su título y a la naturaleza del tratado; en el segundo, exa-minamos los paralelos textuales que nos ayudan a precisar mejor el contenido de la obra de Paciano; y finalmente, consagramos el tercer apartado a plantear la interesante cuestión de si alguna parte de este escrito pudo sobrevivir hasta la actuali-dad oculta en las líneas de algún autor posterior.

In this paper we study Bishop Pa-cian of Barcelona’s lost treatise Ceruulus, which was intended to combat the pagan New Year fes-tivals in which people disguised themselves as animals. In this way, we devote the first section to analysing the historiographical debate that arose around the meaning of its title and the na-ture of the treatise; in the second, we examine the textual parallels that help us to better define the contents of Pacian’s work; and finally, we devote the third section to the interesting question of whether any part of this writing could have sur-vived to the present day hidden in the lines of a later author.
