La desaparición y las luchas entre la historia y las batallas de las memorias: el caso de Bautista van Schouwen Vasey

    Esta investigación describe y analiza la desaparición en el contexto de la dictadura cívico militar (1973 – 1990) en su relación con la historia y las batallas por las memorias. La hipótesis atiende a que las tensiones entre la desaparición y la falta de registros históricos sobre el pensamiento y la acción política, así como las memorias en disputa, dificultan la consolidación de prácticas sociales transformadoras y la organización de fuerzas políticas como respuesta a problemas del presente. Considerando tanto las distinciones entre la historia y las memorias, así como sus imbricaciones, se presenta el caso de Bautista van Schouwen Vasey, miembro del Comité Central del Movimiento de Izquierda Revolucionaria (MIR), como un ejemplo paradigmático que revela las tensiones entre, por una parte, el registro histórico de los proyectos políticos de cambio social y su transmisión, y por otra, las batallas entre las memorias que aún perpetúan el olvido y aquellas que promueven las memorias colectivas como prácticas sociales. Se utiliza un método cualitativo documental, que comprende la revisión de archivos, análisis de fuentes primarias testimoniales y secundarias de tipo académicas, audiovisuales y de prensa de la época. Los resultados confirman que la desaparición se ha desvinculado del motivo histórico político, lo que plantea desafíos a la historia y las memorias en atención a sus efectos en la actualidad.

    This research describes and analyzes disappearance in the civic-military dictatorship (1973 - 1990) context in its relationship with the history and the memories battles The hypothesis attends to the fact that the tensions between the disappearance and the lack of historical records on political thought and action, as well as the memories in dispute, hinder the consolidation of transformative social practices and the organization of political forces in response to problems of the present. Considering both the distinctions between history and memories, as well as their overlaps, the case of Bautista van Schouwen Vasey, member of the Central Committee of the Movimiento de Izquierda Revolucionaria (MIR), is presented as a paradigmatic example that reveals the tensions between, on one side, the historical record about political projects for social change and its transmission, on the other hand, the battles between memories that still perpetuate oblivion and those that promote collective memories as social practices. A qualitative documentary method is used, which includes the review of files, analysis of primary testimonial and secondary sources of the type academic, audiovisuals, and the press of the time. The results confirm that the disappearance has been disconnected from the historical political motive, which poses challenges to history and memories in view of its effects today.
