    La presencia de tropas procedentes de las islas británicas en las tareas de la Reconquista es prácticamente desconocida hasta el siglo XII, y puramente testimonial entre el mismo y la centuria del XV, a través de pequeñas aportaciones realizadas por nobles de Inglaterra, Escocia e Irlanda, acompañados de sus respectivas huestes o mesnadas, e incluso a título personal. Solo se producirá una presencia mayor durante el siglo XIV, por la intervención decidida de Inglaterra en las guerras dinásticas de Castilla y en los conflictos bélicos que tendrán lugar en la península ibérica enfrentando entre sí, de una manera o de otra, a los reinos de Castilla, Aragón y Navarra, aunque también habrá pequeños grupos que tomarán parte en los problemas surgidos entre la nobleza, sobre todo del condado de Cataluña, y los reyes de Aragón en el siglo XV.

    The presence of troops from the British Isles in the tasks of the Reconquest is practically unknown until the twelfth century, and purely testimonial between it and the fifteenth century, through small contributions made by nobles from England, Scotland and Ireland, accompanied by their respective hosts or innkeepers, and even in a personal capacity. There will only be a greater presence during the 14th century due to the decisive intervention of England in the dynastic wars of Castile and in the warlike conflicts that will take place in the Iberian Peninsula, facing each other, in one way or another, the kingdoms of Castilla, Aragon and Navarra; although there will also be small groups that will take part in the problems that arose between the nobility, especially from the county of Catalonia, and the kings of Aragon in the 15th century.
