Resumen de Estudio de las alteraciones reciente del paisaje en el ámbito fluvial de Medellín (Badajoz) a partir del análisis de vuelos históricos

J.A Pérez, María Teresa de Tena Rey, V. Mayoral, J.A Martínez

  • The territory of Medellin (Badajoz), area of high archaeological interest has suffered an intense transformation caused by intensive irrigated agriculture since the late 50s. The most direct effect of this new economic strategy was to hold extensive levelling affecting especially those areas close to the bed of the Guadiana river. At the same time, the geomorphological dynamics of this medium has evolved rapidly, controlling the visibility and preservation of the archaeological record. To value the recent changes in the landscape an analysis and processing of aerial photography series corresponding to several temporary cuts is done by comparing the digital terrain models and orthoimages generated. The aim of this study was to highlight the potential of these techniques in the reconstruction of the physiognomy of the area before, during and after large terrain removals.
