  • Resumen
    • This research was initiated in 1988 with topographical survey carried out in Somo beach (central coast of Cantabria), when the base of the coastal dune coincided with the appearance of substract. Twenty two years later (2010) these rocks were located in the middle of the beach, and the coastal dune had receded more than 20 meters. From the year 2011, five measurements were made with laser scanner, over 400 meters from the coastline the beaches of Somo and Gerra (western Cantabria). Moreover, a recent development (laser scanner) is complemented with the knowledge of the historical development of both studied areas. To do this, mapping was performed using aerial photogrammetric images available (since 1948) by the Autonomous Community of Cantabria. This mapping has an equidistance curves of 5 meters, where is shown the contour of zero altitude, the foot and head of the coastal talus. Both photogrammetric mapping as laser scanner surveys were georeferenced in the UTM (ED50) system
