Resumen de Morfologias urbanas na Lisboa Medieval: O caso das Judiarias (1147-1325)

This article will have as its central theme the urban morphology of the two Jewish settlements in medieval Lisbon, in a chronology that ends with King Dinis' reign. The urban form of the Old/Great and New/Little Jewry was diametrically opposed because its genesis was very different. We will see how the formation of a new urban network was deeply related to the power that then controlled the city. Thus, our lack of knowledge of the initial stage of the formation of the urban fabric of Old Jewry is somehow solved by the information we have about the formative process of the Little Jewry, allowing us a comparison between their urban morphologies.

Este artigo terá como tema central a morfologia urbana das duas judiarias existentes na Lisboa medieval, numa cronologia que finda no final do reinado de D. Dinis. A forma urbana das Judiaria Velha e Nova era diametralmente oposta pois a sua génese terá sido muito diferente. Observaremos como a formação de uma nova malha urbana estava profundamente relacionada com o jogo de poderes que então controlava a cidade. Deste modo, o nosso desconhecimento do estágio inicial da formação da malha urbana da Judiaria Velha é de algum modo colmatado pela informação que possuímos sobre o processo formativo da Judiaria Pequena, permitindo-nos uma comparação entre ambas as respectivas morfologias urbanas.
