The coin collection of the egyptologist and numismatist Giovanni Dattari (1858-1923) provides a fabulous basis to pursue the research on the mint of Alexandria, not only during the first three centuries of Roman Egypt but also after the monetary reform that took place there in 296. Part of the collection was donated to the Coin Cabinet of the Royal Library of Belgium by the numismatist himself in 1910 and deserves attention after its publication in 2018. As most of the collection has been dispersed, there are certainly many coins still to be discovered. Though, a little-known nummus at the Coin Cabinet allows further progress on the knowledge of the reformed coinage of Alexandria in bronze during the First Tetrarchy (293-305). This Alexandrian coinage shall now be studied in its historical and economic context, taking as a framework the chronology of the revolt of Domitius Domitianus (297-298) and the vicennalia of 303, as well as the study of dies and styles
