Resumen de El geoparque del Maestrazgo (Maestrazgo cultural european & global geopark)

  El Parque Cultural del Maestrazgo es uno de los cuatro territorios europeos que constituyeron la European Geoparks Network y, por lo tanto, el primer geoparque español. Este territorio contiene un rico y variado legado geológico, inventariado y, en ocasiones, protegido de forma física o legal (a través de distintas figuras de protección). Las investigaciones desarrolladas en este geoparque sirven como punto de partida y complemento a las acciones de conservación del patrimonio geológico, de educación ambiental y de difusión del conocimiento científico (como la implantación de una Red de Miradores en el geoparque o la celebración de eventos específicos en torno a la geología), todas ellas con el fin de incrementar el interés por las Ciencias de la Tierra y promover el geoturismo. En esta contribución se presentan las características principales del geoparque del Maestrazgo, su actual estructura de gestión y la selección de algunas de sus actividades más representativas.

  The Maestrazgo Cultural Park is one of the four European territories which founded the European Geoparks Network and, consequently, it is the first Spanish geopark. This territory includes a rich and a diverse catalogued geological heritage; some sites are protected in a physical or legal way by means of different forms of protection. The research developed in the geopark serves as a starting point to complement the geoheritage conservation, the environmental education and the diffusion of scientific knowledge actions (such as the foundation of the Maestrazgo Geopark Viewpoints Network, or the celebration of specific events around geology )in order to increase of the interest in Earth Sciences and to promote geotourism. This contribution highlights the main features of the geopark, its current management structure and some of its more representative activities.
