La fibrilación auricular es la arritmia cardiaca más frecuente en humanos. El primer paso antes de planificar cualquier tipo de actuación en medicina clínica es conocer el perfil de los pacientes a tratar y, en base a ese perfil clínico, establecer las estrategias de manejo más adecuadas y optimizar los recursos. Las tres estrategias para su tratamiento son: control de la respuesta ventricular (control de frecuencia), control del ritmo y profilaxis de la tromboembolia arterial.
Se presenta el caso de paciente mujer que acude al servicio de urgencias por presentar pulso anormal (palpitaciones).

Atrial fibrillation is the most common arrhythmia in humans. The first step to take before any action in clinical medicine is learning about the patient’s profile and drawing up the most suitable management strategies according to this profile and optimizing resources.
The three strategies for its treatment are: ventricular response control (frequency control), rhythm control and arterial thromboembolism prophylaxis.
Female patient comes to the emergency room showing abnormal heart rhythm (arrhythmia).
