Resumen de Patrimonio geológico y paleontológico del Parque Geológico de Aliaga

  El Parque Geológico de Aliaga es un referente cultural del patrimonio geológico en Aragón. El principal objetivo de este parque, es transmitir los conceptos básicos de la geología a la sociedad, apoyándose en el paisaje de la zona de gran valor didáctico para conocer y entender la geología a pie de afloramiento. La divulgación del patrimonio geológico avanza a gran velocidad durante estos últimos años, pero sin duda, lugares como el Parque Geológico de Aliaga, necesitan más promoción para poder hacer llegar, a un público más amplio, los conocimientos elementales en geología. En este estudio, se ha concluido que pese al gran valor que tiene este parque en cuanto a infraestructura, divulgación, y carácter científico, el gran público desconoce, en su mayoría, este lugar. Este hecho se traduce en una baja afluencia de público, tan necesaria, para llevar a cabo la labor de divulgación, por lo que se debe estudiar una manera de promoción que saque el mayor rendimiento a uno de los parques geológicos más importantes de España.

  The Geological Park of Aliaga (Aragón, Spain) is a cultural and heritage reference within the Spanish Authonomous Community of Aragón. Created as one of the “First three” European geoparks, it has to date fulfilled the major objective of raising awareness of the geology and palaeontology of a region characterised by dramatic tectonic structures, a remarkably complete Lower to Upper Cretaceous stratigraphy with a significant palaeontological record. In this way, it has demonstrated the great potential of geology as both a research and educational resource. This work of spreading awareness of the geological values of an area to a broad society is, without doubt, a hard task, especially the complexities of how to make difficult concepts understandable to a general public, which typically has little or no prior knowledge of the subject. The Geological Park of Aliaga faces some important problems, amongst them its relatively remote location, including within the Community of Aragón, which can complicate visits, plus the lack of good infrastructures, which allow visitors to spend several days in the area. At this point it time, therefore, it is clear that the authorities responsible for the park should try to improve their basic network of infrastructures for visitors.
