Jerarquía, reciprocidad y cosmovisión: el caso de los centros ceremoniales tukipa en la comunidad huichola de Tateikie

    Si la cosmovisión de un pueblo es el ordenador de su universo, entonces las categorías mentales que abrevan de ésta han de encontrarse estrechamente relacionadas con la disposición social que sustenta a la cultura. El artículo busca precisamente aquellas vías que posibilitan que una cultura, en este caso la huichola, se organice como una totalidad bien estructurada. Para ello se analizan y vinculan varios niveles e instituciones de su realidad social. Se estudia cómo la disposición en la geografía de los centros ceremoniales huicholes denominados tukipano es arbitraria sino, por el contrario, expresa un axis mundidado mediante valores y jerarquías asignados a cada centro ceremonial. El autor llega a la conclusión de que el dualismo del pensamiento huichol es susceptible de manifestarse en la estructura social como un dualismo triádico o bien como un dualismo concéntrico. Develado esto, se aplica el modelo del universo a ciertos intercambios rituales que generan importantes alianzas entre los diferentes centros ceremoniales, de los que dependen a su vez ciertas alianzas matrimoniales o la organización de los peregrinos recolectores del peyote. Tomando como base la ligazón que ejerce la cosmovisión sobre la organiza ción de los centros ceremoniales, de los intercambios y de la fila de peregrinos, el autor propone que, mediante este modelo, presumiblemente autóctono, se han de organizar otras realidades como son los cargos civiles y de la iglesia

    Considering that peoples’ cosmogony is the one in charge of arranging their universe, then the mental categories that arise from it have to be found closely related to the social disposition that supports culture. The aim of this article is to look for those paths that enable a culture —in this case the Huichol— to organize itself as a well-structured whole. In order to accomplish it, several levels and institutions belonging to their social reality are analyzed and related to each other. Furthermore, this article analyzes how the disposition in the geography of Huichol ceremonial centers called Tukipa is not arbitrary, on the contrary, they express an axis mundi given by means of values and hierarchies assigned to each ceremonial center. The conclusion is that the duality in the Huichol thought is susceptible of manifesting itself in the social structure as a triadic dualism or as a concentricdualism. Therefore, the model of the universe is applied to certain ritual exchanges that generate important alliances among different ceremonial centers, affecting certain matrimonial alliances as well as the organization of pilgrims in charge of collecting peyote. Considering the emergence of the cosmogony links on the ceremonial centers organization, on exchanges as well as on the pilgrims’ row; it is then that this article suggests that by means of this probable autochthonous model, other realities are organized such as civil and church charges
