In the Iberian monarchies, this situation benefited, above all, lawyers practicing in high-instance courts. This work analyses the curricular itineraries of the lawyers at the service of the monarchy in the kingdoms of Valencia and Portugal, the family and clientele relations derived from their social ascent, and the effect of such a position on the fidelity of the magistrates to the crown to which they served.
