Retos actuales para la inversión china en infraestructura en México: hacia una posible incorporación a la Iniciativa del Cinturón y la Ruta de la Seda

    La Iniciativa del Cinturón y Ruta de la Seda pretende realizar inversiones históricas en materia de infraestructura en diversos países alrededor del mundo. En este escenario, cabe preguntarse si México cuenta con las precondiciones necesarias para una eventual incorporación a dicha iniciativa y qué factores constituyen obstáculos para ello. Con este objetivo, se plantea la cuestión desde una perspectiva cualitativa que busca sistematizar la información contenida en las opiniones de los expertos del tema, las notas periodísticas y los artículos académicos sobre la materia. Los resultados sugieren la incidencia de los siguientes obstáculos: las incipientes relaciones de negocios entre México y China, la difi cultad para abordar canales clave, las debilidades institucionales, la existencia de riesgos políticos, los riesgos sociales y las disparidades en las capacidades de los recursos.

    The Belt and Road Initiative aims to make historic investments in infrastructure in various countries around the world. In this scenario, it is worth asking whether Mexico has the necessary preconditions to join this initiative, and refl ect on those factors that may be obstacles to it. With this objective, the topic is approached from a qualitative perspective by systematizing information from expert opinions, journalistic notes and academic articles. The results suggest the incidence of the following obstacles:

    the incipience of business relations between Mexico and China, the diffi culty in addressing key channels, institutional weaknesses, the existence of political risks, social risks, and disparities in the capacities of the invested resources.
