The interpretation of the archaic epitaph dedicated to Frasiclea has been a subject of some controversy since its publication. Some scholars have recognized in it an identification of the deceased with different deities, Kore-Persephone, Hestia. However, I think rather that κόρη is the name with which this girl (Frasiclea) was called at home. It is quite possible that daughters were usually called in such a way before they were married, Girl probably was a sort of maiden name, as it happens in many societies other than the Greek. The girls would probably adopt their official name once married. As Frasiclea died before marriage, she stayed forever with the name of the Girl in her family
