A comparison of bioclimatic responses in oak trees (Quercus robur L.) growing on two adjacent hillslopes of the same forest stand has been carried out in order to test the ability of pointer years as indicators in dendroecology.
The results of this study show a different response occurring on each slope, characterised by the presence of speci- fic pointer years.
Trees growing on the driest area seem to have a stronger reaction to meteorological events, especially to the increase in summer water supply, which causes a more intense growth
