    The article presents the rol performed by Archbishop Josep Pont i Gol as pastor of the Metropolitan See of Tarragona and his renovating thinking. It analyses the application of the new system of diocesan bodies, following the conciliar and post-conciliar dispositions and the impulse that he gave to the Catalan Episcopal Conference and Catalan culture and the collaboration with the Spanish Episcopal Conference. It shows the various stages of his government and the problems of the Church at the end of Franco’s dictatorship and at the beginning of the new democratic regime. His contribution to the concord of Catalonia and the Church stands out, with the return of the remains of Cardinal Vidal i Barraquer to the Cathedral of Tarragona in 1978.

    L’article mostra l’actuació de l’arquebisbe Josep Pont i Gol com a pastor de la seu metropolitana de Tarragona i el seu pensament renovador. Analitza l’aplicació del nou ordenament dels organismes diocesans, seguint les disposicions conciliars i postconciliars; el suport que va donar a la Conferència Episcopal Catalana i a la cultura catalana, i la col·laboració amb la Conferència Episcopal Espanyola. Destaca la seva contribució a la concòrdia de Catalunya i de l’Església amb el retorn de les despulles del cardenal Vidal i Barraquer a la seu de Tarragona el 1978.
