Resumen de ¿Investigación o técnica? Nueve tesis sobre el futuro de una educación para las artes escénicas

  Cuando hablamos de educación en las artes escénicas, hablamos del final de una larga cadena. Los conservatorios de teatro y escuelas para bailarines, cantantes, instrumentistas, actores, directores, escenógrafos y diseñadores de vestuario son el resultado del largo desarrollo de una convención estética. Todos estos centros de formación se fundaron con el único propósito de proporcionar nuevos talentos a las instituciones que noche tras noche realizan ballets, óperas, conciertos, teatro y musicales. Son el resultado de una práctica artística existente, que tiene al menos 100 años —las premisas básicas para la formación en ópera son bastante más antiguas—. No fueron construidos para renovar la estética, tampoco para provocar el cuestionamiento de las estructuras o instituciones para las que se educan. Así, la capacitación para el “mercado” existente, es el último y más inerte eslabón en una cadena de formas del arte, instituciones artísticas y educación para el arte.

  When we talk about education in the performing arts, we talk about the end of a long chain. The conservatoires1 for theatre and theatre-related disciplines, for dancers, singers, instrumentalists, actors, directors, stage and costume designers, result from a long development of an aesthetic convention. All these training centres were founded with the sole purpose of providing new talent for the representative institutions, which night after night perform ballets, operas, concerts, theatre and musicals. They are the result of an existing artistic practice in action, which is at least 100 years old – the basic premises for opera training are actually quite a bit older. They were not built in order to renew aesthetics, not to mention questioning the structures or institutions for which they educate. And thus the training for the existing ‘market’ is the last and most inert link in a chain of art forms, arts institutions and education for the arts institutions.
