  • Resumen
    • Shallow landslide susceptibility model, carried out at a regional scale, was compared with the available data of shallow landslides. The model is a heuristic model that combines a small number of variables: bedrock geology, surficial deposits and slope angle. Mapping of these variables is reliable and has a homogeneous level of detail for the whole region. Available data on shallow landslides are: 1) an inventory map of 93 shallow landslides and 2) 10 recent shallow landslides triggered by two heavy rainfall events. Detected errors correspond mostly to `boundary errors ́ generated when converting the thematic vector information to raster format. Other errors are related to bedrock geology map errors and/or incorrect criteria when classifying the bedrock units in the model. Moreover, the detailed study of 'some of the successful classifications' highlights the importance of superficial formations in the development of shallow landslides and the need for reliable geomorphological maps.
