Dante Guerrero Chanduví, Catherin Girón Escobar, Dhaida Stephanie Villena Ayala

  • Methodologies of learning competences of the students and the development of professional competences in the workplace have abundant scientific literature; however the impact of the employment in the learning and development of competences in the students of higher education is little studied, so it is important to analyze it in college graduates. This article aims to analyze the effects of employment in developing competencies in students of higher education as well as the correlations between the different variables that influence the learning and acquisition of these competences. This research uses a mixed methodology of quantitative and qualitative analysis, to compare two groups of the last level of industrial engineering students, enrolled in the course of projects of the University of Piura. Both groups receive the same methodological approach PBL, the difference is based on a group to work in parallel to their studies. As a result, this research will identify competencies with further significant development, and the influence of the employment in the statistically significant development of competencies. Results are also compared with competences which employers require of young engineers.
