Los relatos de los viajeros románticos que recorrieron España en la primera mitad del siglo XIX ofrecieron imágenes del paisaje interesantes y valiosas, expresivas del nuevo modo de verlo que caracteriza nuestra modernidad. Esas imágenes conformaron el momento inicial del descubrimiento moderno de los azpaisajes españoles, y anticiparon en buena medida la manera de acercarse a ellos y entenderlos promovida después por sucesivas perspectivas intelectuales y geográficas. Sus visiones de los paisajes naturales y humanos de España respondieron a nuevas formas de percibirlos y valorarlos que abrieron el camino de la modernidad paisajística española.

The accounts of Romantic travellers who toured Spain in the first half of the 19th century offered interesting and valuable images of the landscape, expressive of the new way of seeing it that characterizes our modernity. These images formed the initial moment of the modern discovery of Spanish landscapes, and, to a large extent, were a preview of the way of the way to approach and understand them later promoted by successive intellectual and geographical perspectives. Their visions of the natural and human landscapes of Spain responded to new ways of perceiving and valuing them that paved the way for Spanish landscape modernity.
