    La labor intelectual de José Ortega y Gasset fue muy diversa y sus modos de actuación muy diferentes en distintos momentos de su vida. En este artículo se da cuenta sucinta de los mismos para mostrar cómo la cátedra, el periódico, las organizaciones políticas o las empresas editoriales que impulsó intentaron contribuir a un mismo afán de modernización de su país. Frente a la bibliografía que intenta resaltar alguno de estos aspectos, aquí se muestra cómo todos ellos formaron parte del quehacer orteguiano aunque con distinta intensidad en cada momento. Ortega representó esa función del intelectual contemporáneo que con sus ideas intentó influir en la opinión pública, pero sin abandonar nunca la concepción filosófica del intelectual como el que busca la verdad.

    José Ortega y Gasset's intellectual work was very diverse and his modes of action were very different at different times in his life. This article gives a succinct account of them to show how the chair, the newspaper, the political organizations or the publishing companies that he promoted tried to contribute to the same desire to modernize their country. Faced with the bibliography that tries to highlight some of these aspects, here it is shown how all of them were part of Ortega's work, although with different intensity at different times. Ortega represented the function of the contemporary intellectual who with his ideas tried to influence public opinion, but without ever abandoning the philosophical conception of the intellectual as the one who seeks the truth.
