    El presente artículo reflexiona sobre la naturaleza de la profesión de Servicio Social en Europa continental, a partir de las complejidades que abordó su primer plan de estudio en Holanda, en 1899. Para tal fin, destaca su articulación con las características del modo de producción capitalista industrial, la explotación del trabajo y la “cuestión social”, así como las complejidades que se priorizaron en la formación de este conjunto de agentes que, por vez inicial, se calificaban de manera más sistemática.

    This article reflects on the nature of the Social Service profession in continental Europe, based on the complexities addressed by its first curriculum in the Netherlands in 1899. We highlight articulation with the industrial capitalist mode of production characteristics, the exploitation of labor and the “social question,” and the complexities that were prioritized in the formation of this group of agents who, for the first time, were qualified more systematically.
