Resumen de Memorias de la Gran Marcha. Política, resistencia y género en la Amazonía ecuatoriana

Este artículo versa sobre las memorias de un conjunto de mujeres del pueblo amazónico de Sarayaku, quienes participaron de la conformación de un importante movimiento étnico-político en la segunda mitad de siglo xx, pero cuyos recuerdos nos trasladan a la rebeldía de sus abuelos desde fines del siglo xix. Pese a la imposición colonialista de misiones católicas, Estado y petroleras, desde los años 1970, ellas contribuyeron a configurar una esfera pública indígena y una voz política propia como mujeres. Estas hermanas reelaboran sus memorias y yuxtaponen temporalidades mediante las evocaciones de la ecología de chagra, del anhelo del retorno de los tiempos y de héroes-heroínas ancestrales junto a las reivindicaciones de una vida sin violencia para las mujeres y los idearios revolucionarios de autodeterminación de los pueblos. A inicios de los años 1990, irrumpen en la escena política nacional, lideran acciones de protesta, recuperan tierras colectivas y reivindican plurinacionalidad.

This article is about the memories of a group of women, from the Amazonian people of Sarayaku, who participated in the formation of an important ethnic-political movement in the second half of the 20th century, but whose memories take us back to the rebellion of their grandparents since late 19th century. Despite the colonialist imposition of Catholic missions, the State and oil companies, since the 1970s, they have contributed to shaping an indigenous public sphere and their own political voice as women. These sisters reelaborate their memories and juxtapose temporalities through the evocations of the ecology of chagra, the longing for the return of time and ancestral heroes-heroines together with the demands of a life without violence for women and the revolutionary ideals of selfdetermination of the peoples. At the beginning of the 1990s, they burst onto the national political scene, led protest actions, recovered collective lands and claimed plurinationality.
