Traducción y Adaptación de una Escala Para Evaluar Generatividad en Abuelos en Santiago de Chile

    Se presentan los resultados de la traducción y adaptación en Santiago de Chile para abuelos de la Escala de Generatividad de Loyola (EGL) de McAdamsy de St.Aubin(1992), que evalúa generatividad general en una muestra intencionada por cuotas según sexo, edad y nivel de ingreso de 385 abuelos chilenos. Realizando análisis paralelo de Horn y análisis factorial exploratorio y confirmatorio, se extrajeron para la escala final, compuesta por 13 ítems, 2 factores: Generatividad Positiva, que explica un 72,39% de la varianza total, y Generatividad Dudosa, que da cuenta del 27,61%. La consistencia interna, según alfa de Cronbach, del factor Generatividad Positiva (11 ítems) fue 0,85 y la del factor Generatividad Dudosa (2 ítems), según el coeficiente de Spearman-Brown, alcanzó a 0,79. Las abuelas que vivían con algún nieto fueron las que puntuaron más alto en generatividad

    The article presents the results of the translation and adaptation of the Loyola Generativity Scale (LGS;McAdams & de St. Aubin, 1992) for grandparents living in Santiago de Chile. This instrument was used toassess overallgenerativity in 385 Chilean grandparents, purposively sampled,according tosex, age,and income level. Using Horn's parallel analysis as well exploratory and confirmatory factorial analyses,2 factors were extracted from the final 13-itemscale: Positive Generativity, which explained 72.39% of the variance,and Doubtful Generativity,whichexplained the remaining variance (27.61%). According to the Cronbach's alphacoefficient, internal consistency reached 0.85 for Positive Generativity (11 items),whilethat of Doubtful Generativity (2 items), according to the Spearman-Brown coefficient, reached0.79. Grandmothers who lived with a grandchild obtained the highest generativity scores.
