    Se considera que la visibilidad estadística de la población trans* es necesaria para el reconocimiento efectivo de los derechos humanos. Por lo tanto, es menester revisar la manera en la que actualmente se construyen las variables e indicadores de género. Lo anterior, con el fin de analizarlas a la luz de algunas discusiones teóricas que deben considerarse para contribuir a una nueva propuesta que dé cuenta de la diversidad de género presente en los centros educativos de Costa Rica. Se concluye que en el sistema educativo aún se utiliza la variable sexo (hombre-mujer) como parte de las formas de clasificación del estudiantado. Por lo anterior, es necesario contar con la definición de nuevas variables e indicadores que contribuyan al diseño de una política educativa dirigida a respetar y reconocer a una población que, históricamente, ha sido excluida del sistema en razón de su identificación de género.

    It is considered that the statistical visibility of the trans* population is necessary for the effective recognition of human rights. Therefore, it is necessary to review the way in which gender variables and indicators are currently constructed and analyze them in the light of some theoretical discussions that should be considered in an effort to contribute to a new proposal that accounts for the gender diversity present in Costa Rican schools. It is concluded that the variable sex (male-female) is still used as part of the ways in which the student body is classified, so it is necessary to have the definition of new variables and indicators that contribute to the design of a policy education aimed at respecting and recognizing a population that has historically been excluded from the system because of their gender identification.
