  • Resumen
    • The archival funds from the Simon Marq workshop at the Médiathèque de l'architecture et du patrimoine offers a fresh look at the history of this dinasty of glass-painters working in Reims since the 17th century. Thanks to a rich and varied documentation that covers the period of the 18th century to the 21st century, this collection constitutes a precious source for the understanding of the mutations of an art of stained-glass and the prefession of its makers that prove the perpetual change of this craft, contrary to the generally admitted image of the artisan as the beholder of an unchanging tradition. To follow the history of the Simon Marq unables us to pay tribute not only to the actors of one of the most brilliant phases of contemporary stained-glass, but also to the glaziers, the glass-makerv archaeologists, the entrepreneurs and to the most modest craftspeople who knew how to create and to pass on the art of light in Reims in all its diversity, for nearly four centuries.
