“Ô de casa!”: gramofones na roça e caipiras na fonografia (1929)

    The article analyzes the “Ô de casa” phonogram, recorded in São Paulo in the late 1920s. Taking into account the construction and manufacture of this work and its relation to the context, the situation recreated in the recording allows us to untangle a few possible intercrossing between the rural world and phonography in the state of São Paulo. We also study the interferences of the romantic repre-sentations of the caipira (hillbilly) culture with the recording, as well as the probable intervention of phonographic technology in the way the audience listened to it.

    O artigo analisa o fonograma “Ô de casa”, gravado em São Paulo, no final dos anos 1920. Levando em consideração a construção e manufatura da obra e sua relação com o contexto, a situação recriada na gravação permite desvendar alguns possíveis entrecruzamentos entre o universo rural e a fonografia, no estado de São Paulo. Também são estudadas as ingerências aí verificadas das representações românticas da cultura caipira, assim como a provável intervenção da tecnologia fonográfica na escuta do público.
