Este documento presenta algunas reflexiones sobre artículo de Dan Sperber publicado en 1989 y titulado: “Es pre-racional el pensamiento simbólico”. Analiza la tesis central del artículo acerca del cuestionamiento del saber recibido y celosamente custodiado por la antropología. Expone con cierta amplitud el argumento de Sperber, utilizando las mismas frases y palabras empleadas por el traductor, para posteriormente hacer una reflexión tanto general como puntual sobre el autor

The essay presents with some lenght Sperber's thesis that "symbolic thought is necessarily built after a previous rational treatment". Although in general terms Sperber's position is accepted·, a critique is presented concerning three themes: the first deals with the deficient recognition it gives to Turner and Lévi-Strauss; the second, the principie that ""ali representation can be invoked by any stimulus in determined conditions"; third, the basic epistemological problem: "similarity" and ""contiguity", contrary to what Sperber apparently holds, aren't empirical concepts.
