En este trabajo se abordan desde una perspectiva historiográfica comparativa, los procesos de cambio político ocurridos durante el último tercio del siglo xx en Chile y España. Prestaremos especial atención a los paralelismos, divergencias y paradojas que ofrecen los cambios políticos y tendremos en cuenta ambos escenarios para contrastar decisiones y comportamientos y no sólo para buscar causas, influencias o interde- pendencias. Lo que se pretende básicamente es evidenciar las potencialidades heurísticas de la historia com- parada, concebida como un ingrediente esencial de la Historia del Tiempo Presente, y como un estimulante ejercicio historiográfico orientado al perfeccionamiento de la metodología histórica.

In this work, the processes of political change that occurred during the last third of the twentieth century in Chile and Spain are approached from a comparative historiographic perspective. We will pay special attention to the parallels, divergences and paradoxes that political changes offer and we will take into account both scenarios to contrast decisions and behaviors and not only to look for causes, influences or interdependencies. What is basically intended is to highlight the heuristic potential of comparative history, conceived as an essential ingredient of the History of the Present Time, and as a stimulating historiographic exercise aimed at perfecting the historical methodology.
