    Por la ordenación, el sacerdote representa sacramentalmente a Cristo. Por la misma ordenación, puede actuar en nombre de la Iglesia. Joseph Ratzinger y Gisbert Greshake han reflexionado sobre lo que comporta esta representación, su origen profundo y sus consecuencias concretas en la vida del ministro y en el conjunto de la Iglesia. Ambos lo hacen también con distintas posturas, pues mientras para Ratzinger la representación cristológica es la clave desde la que comprender posteriormente el ministerio eclesial, Greshake defiende que en el ministro se da una doble representación como núcleo teológico desde el que comprender e interpretar el sacerdocio. Este debate que se daba en el último cuarto del siglo pasado se presenta hoy desde la articulación de las dimensiones cristológica y pneumatológica del ministerio.

    By ordination, the priest represents Christ sacramentally. By the same ordination, he can act on behalf of the Church. Joseph Ratzinger and Gisbert Greshake have reflected on what this representation entails, its deep origin and its concrete consequences in the life of the minister and in the Church as a whole. Both also do it with different positions, because while for Ratzinger the Christological representation is the key from which to understand the ecclesial ministry later, Greshake defends that in the minister there is a double representation as theological nucleus from which to understand and interpret the priesthood. This debate that took place in the last quarter of the last century is presented today from the articulation of the christological and pneumatological dimensions of the ministry.
