Cuando hablamos del asilo y el refugio por motivo de orientación sexual y de identidad género (SOGI, Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity, siglas en inglés) en la Ciudad de Melilla, hablamos de un fenómeno contextualizado por cuatro realidades que influyen como factores determinantes:
La realidad de la protección internacional dentro del fenómeno migratorio.
La propia vulnerabilidad del colectivo LGTBI en el conjunto de la sociedad.
La especificidad del asilo desde el punto de vista procedimental y del sistema de acogida en Melilla.
La especificidad de los grupos especialmente vulnerables dentro del fenómeno del asilo y el refugio.
Otro factor a tener en cuenta es cómo la pandemia ha afectado al colectivo de migrantes solicitantes de asilo LGTBI en Melilla de forma específica durante estos dos años (Washington blade, 2020).

When we talk about asylum and refuge on the grounds of sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI, Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity) in the city of Melilla, we allude to a phenomenon contextualized by four realities that influence as determining factors:
The reality of international protection within the migratory phenomenon.
The very vulnerability of the LGTBI collective in society as a whole.
The specificity of asylum from the procedural point of view and the reception system in Melilla.
The specificity of particularly vulnerable groups within the phenomenon of asylum and refuge.
Another factor to take into account is how the pandemic has specifically affected the group of LGBTI asylum-seeking migrants in Melilla during these two years (Washington Blade, 2020).
