    INTRODUCCIÓN. La contingencia sanitaria provocada por el SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) ha representado un desafío a las ciudades en materia de transporte y movilidad. Colateralmente este fenómeno ha impactado en las condiciones ambientales y la calidad del aire de las zonas urbanas. OBJETIVO. La presente investigación tiene el propósito de averiguar si existe una correlación entre la movilidad del municipio de Toluca y la calidad del aire de la misma ciudad. MÉTODO. Contrastar la información proveída de la base de datos de Apple Inc. con respecto a los viajes realizados por los usuarios y las condiciones ambientales de la ciudad de Toluca en sus índices de calidad del aire en el periodo de febrero a julio 2020. RESULTADOS. Los resultados obtenidos indican que la población cambio drásticamente su comportamiento en materia de movilidad, por otro lado, los índices de la calidad del aire no decrecieron notablemente. DISCUSIÓN Y CONCLUSIONES. Se evidencia que las actividades económicas y de movilidad de la región del Valle de Toluca disminuyeron debido a las normas sanitarias, sin embargo, la calidad del aire no mejoró como se esperaba.

    INTRODUCTION. The health contingency caused by SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) has represented a challenge to cities in terms of transportation and mobility. Alongside these challenges, this phenomenon has influenced on the environmental conditions and air quality of urban areas. OBJECTIVE. The purpose of this research is to find out if there is a correlation between the mobility of the municipality of Toluca and the air quality of the same city. METHOD. Contrast the information provided from the Apple Inc. database regarding the trips made by users and the environmental conditions of the city of Toluca in its air quality levels in the period from February to July 2020. RESULTS. The results obtained indicate that the population drastically changed its behavior in terms of mobility, on the other hand, the air quality levels did not decrease significantly. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS. It is evident that the economic and mobility activities of the Toluca Valley region decreased due to sanitary standards, however, the air quality did not improve as expected.
