Relevance of religious and spiritual aspects as components of intangible heritage

    Los viajes asociados a la religión y la espiritualidad han sido un motivador de viaje desde épocas muy antiguas. Más tarde, en los siglos XVII al XIX, periodo conocido como el Gran Tour, el patrimonio material generó viajes a diversos sitios europeos poseedores de una rica herencia cultural con carácter educacional para jóvenes de clase económica alta. En años recientes el deseo de vivir experiencias por parte de los turistas ha provocado que el patrimonio inmaterial se convierta en un atrayente turístico.

    Los aspectos asociados a lo espiritual o lo religioso son elementos importantes para una gran cantidad de manifestaciones culturales alrededor del mundo. UNESCO hoy considera muchas de ellas patrimonio inmaterial con la intensión de mantenerlas vivas. Es por ello, que, en este trabajo, mediante la utilización de la teoría de grafos, se realiza un análisis de los distintos criterios que se han empleado por parte de UNESCO para otorgar su reconocimiento a las manifestaciones culturales vivas y de esa manera, determinar la relevancia que han tenido los aspectos espiritual y religioso como elemento de valor patrimonial.

    Travel associated with religion and spirituality has been a travel motivator since ancient times. Later, in the seventeenth to nineteenth centuries, a period known as the Grand Tour, the material heritage generated trips to various European sites possessing a rich cultural heritage with an educational nature for young people from the upper economic class. In recent years, the desire for experiences on the part of tourists has caused intangible heritage to become a tourist attraction.

    Aspects associated with the spiritual or religious are important elements for a large number of cultural manifestations around the world. UNESCO today considers many of them intangible heritage with the intention of keeping them alive. That is why, in this work, through the use of graph theory, an analysis is carried out of the different criteria that have been used by UNESCO to grant its recognition to living cultural manifestations and thus determine the relevance that spiritual and religious aspects have had as an element of heritage value.
