La colonización agraria es consustancial al contexto de desarrollo del arte y arquitectura contemporáneos en España. La plantilla del Servicio de Arquitectura del INC la formaron ochenta arquitectos experimentados. De entre ellos, el presente artículo pone en valor las aportaciones arquitectónicas de Pedro Castañeda Cagigas, durante su actividad en el INC-IRYDA en las provincias de Albacete y Valencia. Metodológicamente, ha sido objeto de estudio documentación inédita propiedad de sus herederos y la obtenida en archivos ministeriales. Los resultados dan difusión a su repertorio menos conocido entre otros: Aguas Nuevas, la escuela-capilla de Cilanco, San Isidro de Benagéber, Huertos Melchor y Magallón y Masía del Carril, localidades que deben valorarse por el patrimonio artístico sacro contemporáneo que albergan en distintas manifestaciones plásticas, como la pintura mural, la escultura, la cerámica y el vitral.

The agrarian colonization is essential to understand the development of the contemporary architecture and art from another context. The staff of the INC’s Architecture Service was formed by eighty experienced architects. Among them, this article highlights the architectural contributions of Pedro Castañeda Cagigas during his activity in the INC-IRYDA in the provinces of Albacete and Valencia. Methodologically, unpublished documentation owned by his heirs and that obtained from the ministerial archives have been studied. The results of the study are to divulge his lesser- known works among others: Aguas Nuevas, the Cilanco schools-chapel, San Isidro de Benagéber, Huertos Melchor y Magallón and Masía del Carril, towns that should be valued by the contemporary sacred artistic heritage that they contain in different plastic manifestations such as mural painting, sculpture, pottery and stained glass.
