Resumen de Distritos y escaños en Brasil: antecedentes, diagnóstico y consecuencias partidarias del malaporcionamiento

El malaporcionamient (diferencia entre el porcentaje de electores de un distrito y el porcentaje de escaos asignados al mismo) ha tenido consecuencias partidatias en Brasil. Ha sido particularmente importante como prenda de negociacin y como equilibrio del poder entre los diferentes estados. A este respecto, es posible medir las disparidades representativas entre los distritos electorales que componene la Repblica Federativa de Brasil, hacer un diagnstico de la tendencia que siguen tales diferencias, y comparar la distribucin sin malaporcionamiento. En el caso de este pas latinoamericano, tomando en cuenta las respectivas distribuciones de apoyo electoral de los partidos, puede afirmarse que el malaporcionamiento ha afectado la representacin de los mismos.

Malapportionment (the difference between the percentage of voters of a district and the percentage of seats assigned to it) has had party consequences in Brazil. It has been particularly important as a means of negotiation and equilibrium of power between different states. In this respecto, it is possible to measure the representative disparities between the electoral districts that constitute the Federative Republic of Brazil, to offer a diagnosis on the tendency followed by these disparities, and also to compare the current seat distribution against a hypothetical one without malapportionment. In the case of this Latin American country, taking into account the respective electoral support distribution of the parties, it can be stated that malapportionment has affected their representation.
