  • Resumen
    • A 1:600 reduced-scale model with simultaneous external and internal pressure measurements of a 215 m high cooling tower was designed and tested. The model was immersed in flows with several different turbulence intensities which were simulated in a multiple-fan actively-controlled wind tunnel to obtain time histories of resultant pressures. An estimation method of extreme wind load based on the correlation concept and the peak factor with a specified exceeding probability was proposed to analyze the extreme value characteristics under the condition of different turbulence intensities of the incoming flows. Six wind load patterns were proposed to fit the extreme wind loads, the results show that the combination of extreme external pressure and mean internal pressure is the most suitable.
