La crisis financiera de 2008 produjo cambios dramáticos en la sociedad española. Prácticamente, y de un día para otro, quedaron sin trabajo más de tres millones de personas. Esto arremolinó y arrastró a rincones antes impensables los planes de vida de miles de ciudadanos. De esos días recuerdo una noche en particular. Paseaba por la glorieta Ruiz Jiménez, en Madrid, cuando doblé en un esquina y me di de bruces con un pequeño campamento, gente que dormía al abrigo de una saliente del edificio que hace esquina. Debían ser casi veinte personas. No lo podía creer. Solía pasar por ese lugar cada cierto tiempo y nunca vi algo parecido. Un mes antes, esas personas no estaban ahí. La velocidad que había tomado toda esa desgracia me impresionó. Sentía que nadie estaba a salvo. Años después, esas imágenes, que quedaron marcadas en mi memoria, colisionaron con una de las famosas frases de Jean Luc Godard —“todo lo que se necesita en una película es un arma y una mujer”— y dieron como resultado 3 6 5 (España, 2019), mi segundo largometraje. La historia de una mujer orgullosa, que prefiere la indigencia a reconocer su derrota. Un personaje que transita un camino que va de la realidad a la fantasía; comienza luchando contra las circunstancias que le rodean, y termina perdida en el delirio. Realidad versus ficción.

The 2008 financial crisis produced dramatic changes in Spanish society. Practically, and from one day to the next, more than three million people were unemployed. This swirled and dragged into the previously unthinkable corners the life plans of thousands of citizens. Of those days I remember one night in particular. I was walking through the Ruiz Jiménez roundabout, in Madrid, when I turned a corner and hit a small camp, people who slept sheltered by a ledge of the building on the corner. There must have been almost twenty people. I could not believe it. I used to go through that place every so often and I never saw anything like it. A month earlier, those people were not there. The speed that all that misfortune had taken impressed me. I felt that no one was safe. Years later, these images, which were marked in my memory, collided with one of Jean Luc Godard's famous phrases - "all that is needed in a film is a weapon and a woman" - and resulted in 3 6 5 ( Spain, 2019), my second feature film. The story of a proud woman, who prefers destitution to acknowledging her defeat. A character who walks a path that goes from reality to fantasy; He begins fighting against the circumstances that surround him, and ends up lost in delirium. Reality versus fiction.
