Resumen de Ignacio Manuel Altamirano en los límites de lo fantástico (hoffmaniano)

  El presente artículo es una indagación del lugar que tiene la literatura fantástica dentro de la obra de Ignacio Manuel Altamirano, particularmente sobre la influencia de la manera de entender lo fantástico de E. T. A. Hoffmann. Fiel a sus convicciones nacionalistas, el mexicano no fue ajeno a los mecanismos de lo fantástico y en diversos momentos los utiliza, siempre ubicado en las fronteras de esa tradición literaria. A partir de sus textos críticos, obras de carácter costumbrista e indicios localizados en algunas de sus narraciones, es posible conocer sus opiniones al respecto y abordar su manera de entender lo fantástico (hoffmaniano).

  This article explores the role of fantastic literature within some texts of Ignacio Manuel Altamirano and, particularly, the influence of E. T. A. Hoffmann’s understanding of the fantastic. Faithful to his nationalist convictions, the Mexican writer was not a stranger to the mechanisms of the fantastic; he even used them at different moments, always located on the borderlands of that literary tradition. From his textual criticism and Costumbrismo works, as well as other clues found in some of his narratives, it is possible to know Altamirano's opinion on the matter, and to approach his way of understanding the (Hoffmanian) fantastic.
