Il consumo di vino e olio a Parma: il dato epigrafico delle anfore Dressel 6A e Dressel 6B di via Palermo

    Le bonifiche con anfore rappresentano un fenomeno molto diffuso nel mondo romano ed esse sono ben documentate anche a Parma. Lo scavo di una di queste bonifiche, realizzata lungo la strada diretta al porto romano di Brixellum, ha restituito numerosi contenitori, tra cui anfore provenienti dal nord Italia, dal Piceno e dall’Istria. Si tratta soprattutto di Dressel 6A (vino) e Dressel 6B (olio), anche con marchi e un titulus pictus. L’analisi epigrafico-archeologica di questi contenitori ha consentito in particolare di approfondire alcuni aspetti legati all’attività delle figlinae e alle modalità di commercializzazione, nonché di meglio definire il quadro dei consumi della città romana e la portata della rete nord-italica di distribuzione dei prodotti.

    Drainages with amphorae are very widespread in the Roman world and even in Parma they are well documented. The excavation of one of these drainages, carried out along the road to the Roman harbour of Brixellum, has returned numerous transport containers, including amphorae from Northern Italy, Picenum and Istria. These are mainly Dressel 6A (for wine) and Dressel 6B (for oil), also with stamps and one with titulus pictus. In particular, the epigraphic-archaeological analysis of these containers allowed to explore aspects related to the activity of figlinae and marketing procedures, as well to learn more about the consumption of the Roman city and the size of goods’ distribution network in Northern Italy.
