The archaeological excavations carried out in the years 1985-1998 in the site of Vigna Barberini on the Palatine hill by the French School at Rome in collaboration with the Soprintendenza Archeologica of Rome leaded to the identification of the remains of a prestigious residential area occupied by one (maybe two) domus going back to the Julio-Claudian age. During this research a big amount of fragmentary wall paintings has been unearthed. After an article concerning a preliminary analysis of the oldest fragments among those brought to light, this paper aims at presenting a selection of the most significant finds belonging to the third and the fourth style.
