Las necesidades idiomáticas del programa de turismo en la UACJ y la oferta académica del Centro de Lenguas

    El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo analizar las demandas idiomáticas del programa educativo de Turismo en la Universidad Autónoma de Cd. Juárez. Por medio de un estudio cualitativo-cuantitativo se logra dilucidar el rol de los idiomas en el área de turismo en una comunidad fronteriza como Cd. Juárez, Chihuahua. Por otra parte se estudia la oferta académica del Centro de Lenguas con sede en la misma institución examinando información sobre los estudiantes de la licenciatura de Turismo que han tenido contacto con este centro de idiomas. Los resultados expuestos en la investigación señalan la necesidad imperante de que los estudiantes y egresados cuenten con la habilidad lingüística de comunicarse en lenguas extranjeras en los diferentes campos donde se desarrolla su crecimiento profesional. De la misma manera la información que se derivan de los datos por parte del Centro de Lenguas sobre el desempeño de los estudiantes en relación a idiomas diferentes al nativo confirma la urgencia de desarrollar esta competencia comunicativa.

    The objective of the present work is to analyze the language requirements of the tourism educational program of Autonomous University of Cd. Juarez. Through a study of both qualitative and quantitative dimension, the role of language in the area of tourism in a frontier community as is Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua is elucidated. The academic offerings of Centro de Lenguas, which is located within the same institution, are also studied through the examination of information on the Tourism bachelor degree program students who have come in contact with this center of languages. The results obtained through this research point towards the paramount importance held by the language ability of the students and graduates which will enable them to communicate in foreign languages in the different fields where their professional development lies. The information on the students’ foreign language performance obtained from the data provided by the Centro de Lenguas confirms, in the same way, the urgency of developing this communication competency.
