Resumen de Acceder al canonicato en Lérida durante la primera mitad del siglo XV

El cabildo de Lérida era una institución integrada por veinticuatro canónigos y siete dignidades, que cuidaban el culto en la catedral y percibían numerosas rentas. Por ello, eran muchas las personas que ambicionaban un puesto en el cabildo, y diferentes poderes quisieron utilizar las canonjías como premios o gracias para familiares o servidores. Cuando había que proveer una vacante en el cabildo, se activaba un juego de influencias para favorecer a los propios aspirantes y hacer valer sus derechos.
Este artículo estudia cómo se concedían los canonicatos, su teoría y su práctica. También demuestra que el cabildo catedralicio de la primera mitad del siglo XV tendió a estar formado por miembros de la oligarquía urbana leridana y de la élite cultural, es decir, aquellos que tenían un grado universitario.

The cathedral chapter of Lleida was an institution formed by twenty-four canons and seven dignities, which took care of the worship in the cathedral and received numerous incomes. Therefore, many people aspired to a position in the chapter, and different powers wanted to use canonries as rewards for relatives or servants. When a vacancy had to be held in the chapter, influences were activated in order to favour their own candidates and enforce their rights. That paper studies how canonries were collated, its theory and practice. It also shows that the cathedral chapter in the first half of the fifteenth century tended to be formed by members of the urban oligarchy of Lleida and by the cultural elite, that is people who had a degree.
