Resumen de Plataforma Salvem el Mercat: Una experiència ciutadana de salvaguarda patrimonial.

  La Plataforma Salvem el Mercat es va formar el 2013. És un moviment ciutadà en defensa del patrimoni local enfront de l’agressió que suposava el nou edifici amb aparcament subterrani projectat en el centre històric d’Elx. Les actuacions desenvolupades davant les institucions públiques han seguit diverses línies: la protecció de l’edifici, dels banys àrabs i dels refugis antiaeris de la Guerra Civil, la recuperació de la zona verda ocupada pel mercat provisional i l’oposició a l’augment del trànsit en una zona a convertir en zona de vianants. L’actuació determinant va ser la queixa i la petició de salvaguarda patrimonial presentada davant la UNESCO per l’afecció al Misteri d'Elx, inscrit en la Llista de Patrimoni Immaterial des de 2001. L’informe desfavorable emés pel Consell Internacional de Monuments i Llocs (ICOMOS), òrgan consultiu per a la Convenció de Patrimoni Mundial, ha comportat l’anunci de rescissió del contracte de concessió signat per l’Ajuntament amb l’empresa Aparcisa.

  The Save the Market Platform was formed in 2013. It is a citizens' movement in defence of local heritage against the aggression of the new building with underground car parking planned in the historic centre of Elche. The actions developed against public institutions have followed several lines: the protection of the building, the Arab baths and the Civil War air-raid shelters, the recovery of the green area taken by the provisional market and the opposition to the increase of traffic in an area to be converted into a pedestrian zone. The decisive action was the complaint and the request for the safeguarding of heritage presented to UNESCO due to the effect on the Misteri, inscribed on the List of Intangible Heritage since 2001. The unfavourable report issued by the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), an advisory body for the World Heritage Convention, has led to the announcement of the termination of the concession contract signed by the City Council with the company Aparcisa.
