    Los animales siempre han formado parte del universo literario y podemos rastrear su presencia en distintos géneros, que van desde fábulas y bestiarios medievales hasta la narrativa contemporánea, como se puede observar, por ejemplo, en la obrade Amparo Dávila. Estos seres, reales o imaginarios, cumplen con diversas funciones dentro de un texto, mismas que pueden ser interpretadas en varios niveles y cuyo estudio nos puede llevar al interior del ser humano: a la encarnación de fantasmas, obsesiones, deseos y angustias, a la representación de pulsiones de vida o muerte, a la proyección de conflictos. El propósito de este artículo es elaborar una clasificación de las especies presentes en algunos relatos de la autora zacatecana para poder revelar, a través del análisis de sus funciones, la coherencia de su aparición y la estrecha relación que existe entre los humanos y los animales.

    Animals have always been part of the literary universe and their presence can be observed in different genres, from fables and medieval bestiaries to contemporary narrative, as seen in Amparo Dávila’s work. These creatures, either imaginary or real, respond to diverse functions inside a text which can also be interpretedat different levels, an aspect that can lead us to the study of the inner part of a human being; it can take us to the incarnation of phantoms, obsessions, our most profound desires and anguishes, to the representation of life and death impulses and the projection of our deepest conflicts. That is why the aim of this article is to elaborate a classification of the species that are present in some ofthe Mexican author’s tales in order to reveal, through the analysis of their roles, the logic that lies beneath their appearance and the tight relations that exists between humans and animals.
