  En el sudoeste de la provincia de Santa Cruz, se encuentra la localidad de Río Turbio que junto a la localidad de 28 de Noviembre y al paraje Julia Dufour, constituyen la denominada Cuenca Carbonífera, a 5 km. de la frontera con Chile, enmarcada en un entorno de gran belleza natural y estratégicamente ubicada en un corredor turístico, entre dos lugares de turismo internacional, tales como El Glaciar Perito Moreno (El Calafate, Argentina) y el Parque Nacional Torres del Paine (Chile).

  En este trabajo se destaca el potencial turístico que ofrece Rio Turbio, para las personas interesadas en la observación de aves (birdwatching), identificando los mejores sitios para realizar dicha actividad, las especies a observar y favorecer el conocimiento y cuidado de las especies emblemáticas del lugar como el cóndor andino. Además, se mencionan otras actividades relacionadas a las aves, que se están desarrollando en la zona.

  Finalmente, se propone un circuito para observación de aves y medidas que permitan su desarrollo con una baja inversión, para ello se ha considerado la información disponible en estudios de investigación, la bibliografía especifica referente al comportamiento de las aves y se ha verificados con datos de campo.

  In the southwest of the province of Santa Cruz, there is the town of Río Turbio, which together with the town of 28 de Noviembre and the Julia Dufour area, make up the so-called Carboniferous Basin, 5 km away. from the border with Chile, framed in an environment of great natural beauty and strategically located in a tourist corridor, between two places of  international tourism, such as the Perito Moreno Glacier (El Calafate, Argentina) and the Torres del Paine National Park (Chile).

  This work highlights the tourist potential offered by Rio Turbio, for people interested in bird watching (birdwatching), identifying the best places to carry out this activity, the species to observe and favoring the knowledge and care of the emblematic species of the place like the Andean condor. In addition, other activities related to birds are mentioned, which are being developed in the area.

  Finally, a circuit for bird watching is proposed and measures that allow its development with a low investment, for this the information available in research studies, the specific bibliography regarding the behavior of birds has been considered and it has been verified with data from country.
